Eating at Pond Cottage
At Pond Cottage we take food seriously because we believe it should be both good for you and a joy to eat. We love real, home-cooked dishes made from honest ingredients — no ultra-processed shortcuts, just wholesome food cooked generously and with care. We do our best to use organic produce and always choose good quality ingredients with provenance we can trust, just as we would for our own family. We use extra virgin olive oil or butter in all our cooking. Our aim is to provide meals that are both satisfying and nourishing, with ingredients you can feel good about. We have a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 (Very Good).
Breakfast
Breakfast is served between 8.00am and 9.30am as a relaxed, communal affair in our dining room, or—on sunny mornings—in the courtyard garden. We offer cold and hot options and update our breakfast choices regularly.
To help us stay organised, reduce waste, and ensure your meal is freshly cooked without a long wait, we kindly ask guests to complete a breakfast pre-order form the night before.
Packed Lunch
For walkers rejoining the Cotswold Way or cyclists setting off on their route, we offer a packed lunch for £7.50 per person. Each includes a sandwich or roll, homemade cake, an energy bar and a piece of fruit. To help reduce plastic waste, we no longer provide bottled water, so please remember to fill your own bottle before you leave. Packed lunches should be ordered when you book, or at the latest the night before.

Afternoon Cream Tea
If you’d like to treat yourself, we offer a traditional afternoon cream tea with two freshly baked scones, homemade jam, clotted cream, and your choice of tea or coffee, served from 4pm at £15.00 per person. Cream teas should be ordered when you book, or at the latest, the night before.
For special celebrations, we can also provide an occasion cake tailored to your specifications; simply enquire at the time of booking and we’ll be happy to give you a price.
Dinner
There are plenty of local pubs and restaurants to choose from for dinner but our personal favourites can be viewed here. We update our recommendations regularly and welcome feedback from our guests!
For guests without their own transport, there are a couple of options available for “eating in” at Pond Cottage, both require ordering in advance:
Option 1: Sharing cold platters for two (either meat or vegetarian options) set up in your room or in the dining room as you prefer at £20 per person.
Option 2: For small groups of four or more, a home-cooked three-course meal served in our dining room for £40 per person. This is an ideal option for walkers or cyclists, who want to relax and enjoy a hearty meal without the need to travel elsewhere after a day of activity.
While we do not currently hold an alcohol licence, guests are welcome to bring their own wine or beer to accompany the meal. When booking, please let us know about any dietary requirements, allergies, or food intolerances so we can prepare accordingly and have suitable options available during your stay. We take great care to cater for special requirements using separate dishes and utensils, but please note that we cannot guarantee the absence of cross-contamination.
