In the room
Pond Room
As its name suggests, the picture window in the ensuite of this east-facing room frames our large wildlife pond and old oak tree, with distant views of the Cotswold escarpment. The smallest of our three guest rooms (12.45m²; 134ft²), the Pond Room is also the cosiest and most characterful, with thick stone walls, exposed original oak beams and joists adding plenty of rustic charm.
The room features two comfortable single beds (3’), a chest of drawers, a dressing table/desk, and wall hooks for hanging clothes. Roof lights fill the space with natural light, one offering views towards the line of poplars and the sweeping willow tree to the north of the house. The spacious ensuite bathroom continues the rustic theme with exposed stonework and oak timbers.
The Pond Room is graced by a pair of original paintings by local artist Holly Dunham using acrylic on canvas. The paintings depict local scenes – one of the Cotswold Way looking towards Tyndale Monument in North Nibley and the other overlooking the River Severn from the ridge above Purton, one of our favourite local walks (you can find directions for the walk here).
